The last few months have shown the devastating impact of inequality on health. The launch of this year’s Global Nutrition Report emphasises the importance of equality with respect to diets and introduced the idea of nutrition equity. Stating that “everyone deserves access to healthy, affordable food and quality nutrition care”. The report highlights the need for equitable, resilient and sustainable food systems and calls for a pro-equity agenda that mainstreams nutrition into food and health systems. With only five years left to meet the 2025 global nutrition targets, the critical actions that the report details to achieve nutrition equity are needed now more than ever.
